LENS Neurofeedback

LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System) neurofeedback is an innovative approach to brain training & self-regulation. By monitoring and adjusting electrical brain activity inreal-time, LENS neurofeedback helps promote improved brain functioning & overall well-being. Unlike traditional neurofeedback methods that use audio or visual stimuli, LENS neurofeedback works by targeting the brain's electrical impulses directly.

This non-invasive technique encourages the whole brain to self-regulate & optimize its
performance.
With its focus on optimizing the nervous system, LENS neurofeedback offers a
safe & effective method to enhance brain function & achieve positive outcomes in various
areas of life, such as
stress reduction, mental clarity, & emotional stability.

Neurofeedback can help with:

ATTENTION

Issues with attention is one of the most common childhood
disorders and can continue through adolescence and adulthood. Symptoms may include difficulty staying focused/
inattention, difficulty controlling behavior, impulsivity/hyperactivity

(over-activity).

ANXIETY

Symptoms of anxiousness may include anxiety attacks, nail biting, inability to be still, substance dependency, insomnia, a jumpy leg, or even simply a general sense of ill-ease.  The patented LENS technology matches the feedback to each person’s own physiological (neurological) profile in real time.

Anxiety is often the first symptom clients report dropping with LENS sessions.

• Anxiety can be addressed in as little as 6-8 sessions, and 12-15 sessions if anxiety runs in the family.

HEAD INJURY

Automobile accidents, sports injuries, and even small bumps on the head can impact normal brain functioning and lead to many symptoms if not addressed. Mild to severe TBI can result in decreased brain functioning and sometimes, depending on the severity, a major disruption in motor and other skills greatly affecting an individual’s quality of life.

TRAUMA

According to the National Center for PTSD (ptsd.va.gov), 7-8 out of every 100 people in the U.S. will experience PTSD at some point in their life, and about 8 million adults have PTSD during a given year.  With a typical PTSD symptom presentation, the client begins to experience relief from their symptoms (such as insomnia, anxiousness, restless sleep, nightmares, explosiveness, reactivity, triggers, etc.) within the first few sessions, making Neurofeedback an efficient and fast-acting modality.

• Average number of sessions needed for typical PTSD symptom

presentation is 4-10 sessions.

LENS: Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS THE HISTORY?

The benefits fueling the success of the LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System developed by Ochs Labs) were first discovered in 1990, when they recognized that leveraging the brain’s innate neuroplasticity to facilitate change led to a higher level of functioning and a reduction in symptoms in a short amount of time.

Ochs Labs, a dynamic research and software development company located in the San Francisco Bay Area, has providers across 36 countries around the world. Their design team has created and honed a software user interface they call smart technology: intuitive, easy to use, and incredibly effective. They continue to be a leader in neurofeedback technology as well as other medical devices that improve a persons’ quality of life.

WHY IS IT DIFFERENT?

Each person’s brain waves (EEG signals) are unique to them and are constantly changing from moment to moment. Utilizing these EEG “fingerprints,” the patented LENS technology customizes the feedback in real time. Other forms of neurofeedback may require 40-80 sessions to elicit change and require 30+ minutes in each session to obtain results. The LENS, on the other hand, is much faster acting, for instance  the average number of sessions for mild to moderate TBI is only 4-8 sessions. (Often even fewer for children)

HOW SAFE IS IT?

With over 1 million people having benefited from LENS, there have been ZERO adverse event reports registered with the FDA.

WHAT IS A TYPICAL SESSION?

In your first session, you will complete 3 questionnaires that your LENS Provider then uses to customize a treatment plan unique to you and your physiology. During a session, sensors are placed on the head or body and used to monitor the real-time brainwave activity being emitted at the skin surface. Your brain waves are unique to you— no two people’s are the same, and they change from one moment to the next. The LENS identifies your unique EEG signature, and uses this information to provide custom feedback.
